Buying gold now, a good idea?
Fundamental analysis recently suggests that buying now in bulk is a good idea. The current spot price is 811$, what do you think will be in the long term, as of christmas 2009? I suppose a risk free rate of 8% at least, which is pretty decent. Probably even 10% risk free rate for the upcoming year. Obviously, using 2:1 leverage is too risky in the long run, assuming the gold deviations recently. The Kelly critetion is useless in the long term in my opinion and as well the technical analisys. You can however, use the Kelly criterion for daily gold trading with usually bullish behavior and expect a risk free rate of 20%, which is too nice, to say the least.
Thanks…

What is my best bet to convert E-Gold to cash now?
A few years ago e-gold was looked like the best currency ever.An investment in e-gold is attached to the value of gold and is actually stored in gold. So if the price of gold goes up after you bought some e-gold, so would the value of your investment. You would no longer have to worry about where the greenback was going.
Trading e-gold in the U.S. is presently halted due to orders of the U.S. Judicial Service in order to exclude money laundering allegations.
But I, as an investor, I’d like to get to the funds and use them for active investment elsewhere. I have contacted many sites that used to convert e-gold. Either they have totally discontinued it for the time being or conversion fees will range from 30% to 90% which I find outrageous.
Hence my question: What’s my best move to convert E-Gold to cash now?

Investment in gold?
My friend came to know about this gold investment in JB/Malaysia. He has to invest S$8000 to buy a piece of 916 gold bar weighing 100g. The period of investment is 6mths, each month his interest is a piece of 916 gold leaf. He can trade in the gold leaf for money however he will get 2% lesser. At the end of 6mths, he can keep the gold bar. However, if at that time, the price of gold is higher, he can choose to sell to outsider at higher price. But if the price of gold drop, he can still sell to the originator at S$8000.
Everybody heard of or involved in such investment. Pls share your experience Thank you.

Gold dealers?
Gold trading
My local gold dealer buys and sells gold bars/coins with ~$20/ounce spread. Does anyone know how this business is run, how the dealer makes his money while hedging his risks with the volatile prices going on? His is a small operation, so I don’t think he is using the futures markets.

Where’s the best place to trade precious metals?
So far, I’ve only either bought bullion, or used Kitco’s pool account. I’m looking for something with instant confirmation.
Not interested in gold industry stocks. Gold ETFs are ok, but what about silver or Platinum?
Folks, let me clarify:
I want allocated amounts of gold and silver bullion without taking possession. I don’t want options or huge contracts. I just want to buy, say 100 ounces here and there without taking posession.

Gold Stocks, Mutual Funds, Futures, or Investments in General?
hello, i am a poor college student looking to put some of my money from my part-time job away in Gold. I want to invest it in something worthwhile, something reliable. I heard of gold stocks that only charge $10/trade. It must be something that trades in a USA exchange, even if it is foreign in origin!
